About Us
What is a pantomime?
American pantomime and British pantomime are not to be confused. In the United States, pantomime means acting without speaking. While British pantomime includes lots of speaking, singing, dancing, local jokes, slapstick comedy, audience participation, and cross dressing. Our panto is the British style.
How did Pantomime come to Qingdao?
Five years ago, several expats who played Mahjong every Thursday evening were talking about the lack of English language entertainment in Qingdao. Furthermore, there are fewer things to do in the winter months, so the idea of a winter pantomime seemed to fill a need. We worked out how to pay for it and wondered what to do with the extra money. We decided that in addition to providing quality entertainment we could donate half of all proceeds to the local charity. Our performances have included "Rumpelstiltskin" (2007), "Aladdin" (2008), "Robinson Crusoe" (2009), and "Cinderella" (2010).
